Pathway to Thrive Psychotherapy

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before booking your free consultation. If your question isn’t here, reach out directly — I’m happy to help.

How do I know if therapy is right for me?

If you’re navigating a sense of feeling lost, stuck, or like you’re living someone else’s blueprint — therapy may be a useful place to explore that. Psychodynamic therapy is particularly well-suited if you’re more interested in understanding the why than learning new techniques, and if you want change that lasts rather than symptom management. The free 50-minute consultation is a good way to find out if this is the right fit for you.

What is therapy like with you?

My approach is psychodynamic — which means our sessions focus on exploring the patterns, early relationships, and unconscious dynamics that quietly shape your present life. Sessions are conversational, relational, and depth-oriented. I bring curiosity, warmth, and directness. I’ll follow your lead on pace, and I’ll also gently challenge what deserves to be challenged. This is individual therapy for adults only. I do not offer couples or family sessions.

How long is a session?

Each session is 50 minutes long.

What is the session fee?

$170 per session. This is a private-pay practice — sessions are not covered by OHIP. Many extended health benefit plans include coverage for Registered Psychotherapist sessions. Check your plan details and I can provide receipts for reimbursement. A limited number of reduced-fee spots may be available — this can be discussed during the consultation.

What are my payment options?

Clients pay via e-transfer or credit card. Receipts are provided for reimbursement through your insurance provider or extended health benefits plan. I also offer direct billing for Sun Life and Medavie Blue Cross.

What is the free consultation like?

The free 50-minute consultation is held online through a private, confidential video link sent to you once you book. During the session, I’ll ask you to share what’s bringing you to therapy, what you’re hoping to get from the work, and any questions you have about my approach. Together, we’ll get a sense of whether working together feels like a good fit. There’s no obligation or pressure.

Who do you work with?

I work with working professionals, broadly aged 35–50, who are often high-functioning externally but are privately carrying a sense that something doesn’t add up. Often, they are navigating identity questions, burnout, relational patterns, or a search for meaning and depth. Many have tried therapy before and found it helpful but not quite enough. I work with adults only — individual sessions, no couples or family therapy.

How long does therapy take?

This is long-term, depth-oriented work — typically a year or more for meaningful change, though everyone’s process is different. Sessions are weekly or bi-weekly. The issues that bring most people here took decades to develop; they don’t resolve in 8–12 sessions. Research on psychodynamic therapy shows that clients often continue to improve after treatment ends.

What is your cancellation policy?

There is a 24-hour cancellation policy. Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice will be charged the full session fee.
